For the first time in ages, I decided to go back into drawing a digital artwork by hand. This prompted me to use my old graphics tablet of many years and sketch out a fantasy portrait, heavily inspired by the high fantasy movies and games I grew up with.

I wanted to create a whimsically rich drawing, with several complicated layers that came together to tell an entirely interpretive story. I analysed old nature drawings for the grass and recreated the sky based on an old photo. This led me to drawing an elven ranger dynamic pose looking back at a castle longingly.

This was the first time I drew grass and cloud details by digital pen. Overall, I am quite happy with how the overall composition turned out and will happily use this experience to create more hand-drawn projects. I have even used this image as a custom character image in games where you are allowed to upload custom artwork to represent your character. This was used most often in my playthrough for a couple of the campaigns in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, where I believe it really fit the overall tone and atmosphere.
